Nurses are confronted with a number of issues.
A science and an art, nursing is comprised of biological and psychological sciences that work together to continuously advance the field of health care delivery and delivery methods Nurses are expected to have particular characteristics such as patience and compassion, which will allow them to carry out their responsibilities effectively. Also required is that they be attentive to various cultures while providing their services in order for the customer to feel comfortable in their presence. Nursing care, on the other hand, is a procedure that begins at birth and continues throughout an individual’s life span. Despite the significant role nurses play in the health-care industry, they are subject to a number of challenges. The majority of health-care reforms have had a detrimental influence on nurses’ experiences in the job (Clark 2003). As a result, several of these difficulties will be discussed in greater detail in this study.
Harassment and bullying are unacceptable. Harassment is not only physical, but it may also be psychological. Stalking, repeated communication efforts, and unwanted social media contacts are all examples of this type of behavior. According to research, nurses are harassed and bullied at their places of employment. About seventy-one percent of the nurses who participated in the study indicated they had been harassed by the patient on multiple occasions. Nonetheless, harassment and bullying occur not only from the perspective of the patient, but also amongst staff. According to studies, over 45% of nurses have been harassed or tormented verbally by their coworkers or patients in the workplace.
Workplace violence is a serious problem. Violence at health-care facilities has been a major source of concern among nurses, with numerous of them having been victims of it. The reason for this is that nurses are not protected from patient violence, which can occur either accidently or voluntarily. For example, health care employees who work in mentally unstable facilities may be subjected to aggression by this patient. Furthermore, patients who are stubborn and refuse to follow their doctor’s orders make it difficult for caretakers, and some may resort to violence when the nurse administers their prescription.
Nurses must also deal with the dangers that exist in the workplace. Injuries, rashes, the common cold, and blood-borne pathogens are all dangers that nurses must deal with in the health care setting. These dangers endanger the health of the caregiver by exposing them to the possibility of developing infections that could put their life in jeopardy.
Another issue that nurses have to deal with is the long hours they have to work. As a result, nurses are frequently compelled to extend their shifts. Nurses may be required to work for extended periods of time, increasing the likelihood of becoming exhausted and developing health concerns. Frustration can result in injuries, according to a study by (Ilhan, Durukan, Aras, & Aygun 2006).
The final concern is a lack of qualified personnel. This has consistently ranked high on the list of top concerns for caregivers for a long time. According to the results of the survey, important health institutions lack sufficient working staff, posing a substantial risk to the limited staff who are forced to overwork in order to meet the needs of all patients.
Final thoughts: despite nursing being a critical profession that looks out for the general welfare of the population, it is clear that nurses are confronted with numerous problems on a daily basis. Some of which may cause individuals to suffer from significant health problems, some of which may last for a lengthy period of time.

Issues Facing Nurses
Nursing is both a science and an art comprising biological and psychosocial sciences that toil together to continually improve the field of health. Nurses are expected to possess certain traits like patience and caring to facilitate them to carry on with their duties nicely. Additionally, they are expected to be sensitive to all cultures while offering their services to make the client feel comfortable around them. Nevertheless, nursing care is a process that takes place from birth and goes on throughout an individual’s life-span. Despite the great importance nurses play in the health care field, several issues affect them. Most health-care have led to a negative impact on the workplace experiences of nurses (Clark 2003). Therefore, this paper is going to examine some of these issues.
Harassment and Bullying. Harassment is not only physical but also emotional. It may be in the form of stalking, persistent communication attempts, and inappropriate social media contacts. Research shows that nurses are harassed and bullied at their Workplace. About seventy-one percent of nurses interviewed during research said they had been harassed several by the patient. Nevertheless, harassment and bullying not only takes place from the patient but also amongst colleagues themselves. Studies show that around forty-five percent of nurses have been harassed and bullied verbally by their fellow nurses.
Violence at the Workplace. As a pressing issue amongst nurses, violence in health facilities has affected several of them. It is the case since nurses are not insured against patient violence, which may occur accidentally or willingly. For instance, Health workers working in mentally unstable health facilities may experience violence from this patient. Moreover, patients who are stubborn and refuse to follow doctor’s instructions give caregivers a hard time, and some may result in violence when the nurse is administering their medications.
Hazards in Workplace are also another issue facing nurses. Injuries, dermatitis, cold, and blood-borne pathogens are hazardous nurses face in the health facilities. These hazards risk the caregiver’s health, exposing them to risks of contracting some diseases that put their lives in danger.
Long-Working Hours is also another problem faced by nurses. Nurses are thus, required to prolong their shifts often. At times, nurses extend over time; thus, risking getting fatigued, leading to health problems. According to (Ilhan, Durukan, Aras & Aygun 2006), fatigue may lead to injuries.
The shortage of staff is the last issue. Over a long period, this has been among the top concerns for caregivers. The survey shows that significant health facilities lack enough working staff, thus posing a great risk towards the limited staff as they have to overwork to meet all patients’ needs.
In conclusion, it is evident that despite nursing being a key profession that looks out for the people’s common good, nurses face several days to day challenges. Some of which may cause severe health problems to them, which may be long-term.
