Diversity in the Business
In this environment one with physical disability would find it rather easy to adapt. First in most cases the work involves the use of computers and thus there is quite very little in terms of working around. The only aspect that requires walking is when one has to meet the customer. Therefore, one that has a physical disability that involved moving around might have it easy working in this environment. The only adjustment they need is to focus on jobs that require sitting rather walking.
In my department there is a good is gender diversity. Although the number of men seems to be quite higher than those of women there is still much diversity. There are about six men and four women within these departments. Therefore, in this case there seems to be quite a higher aspect of diversity.
In the leadership roles I think that there is not much diversity that is represented in the organization. From the top managerial position one can see that the number of men is higher than those of female there are only two women in the top managerial position while there are only about eight men in the same position. What seems clear here is that men are represented more than the women.
Clearly there appears to be an imbalance in the leadership roles that might affect the others. While the men might be okay since they feel well represented the women might feel that they are not given equal chances.
The challenge might arise here is that the females might not have the same commitment to perform their duties and work towards the success of the organization. The customers might have the impression that this is not an organization that values idea of equal representation.
On the aspect of age diversity there seems to be quite a high number of employees that are aged between 20 and 35. Therefore the aspect of diversity does not seem to appeal well in this case. Most of the people employed in this department are only young people therefore there is no diversity in terms of age.
The idea of diversity in terms of religioun does not seem to be visible within the department. The reason that this does not seem to be clear is because it is hard to tell which religion one belongs to at the work place. The only time this could come out is when one is a Muslim because they can be identified by dressing. But in this case, the people here mostly seem to be Christians.
I would say that in some way the environment does not support a diverse workforce based on the aspect of gender differences in the leadership positions. There is no good representation for the women within the leadership position and in this case there is no diversity.
However on the basis of diversity on the side of customers I would say that the environment provides a diverse base. There is no discrimination for the customers and anyone can get anything from the organization. Besides, there is not always need to create a diverse base for the customers since it is not often possible to determine the people that visit ones shop. In most case, one would focus on diversity in terms of the employees or the workforce and not for the customers.
