Explore a God from the Hindu Pantheon

Your assignment is to explore in depth one of the many deities venerated among Hindus. In about 250 words, you will account for the unique physical appearance of the deity and its significance; the manner in which the deity is worshiped; the unique strength(s) of the deity; anything else that you find appropriate to add (e.g., does the deity’s name have a specific meaning, etc.).
You may not use a dictionary or encyclopedia, unless it is specifically a dictionary of religion or an encyclopedia of religion.
You must cite your source (any citation style is ok).
