SOCIOAUTOBIOGRAPHY
It has come to my knowledge that societal cultures have a massive impact on one’s character. When I look back at my childhood life, it is evident that my liberal state grew out of the societal cult that I grew up in. My liberal state particularly challenges the existence of inequality in the society; by creating counterargument with proof. This paper entails a profound discussion on by liberal trait creation, which was mainly influenced the societal culture that I was exposed to in my childhood.
I came from a middle class family, where my father’s salary facilitated good health, education and accommodation among other basic necessities. In other words, we lived a comfortable life; where such status was highly valued and respected in the society. Families or individuals of low class, were disvalued in this society; where they were financially analyzed in order to be permitted to either rent or buy a house. Money and religion was a culture that caused this indifference existence in this society (CO 4and CO 5). In our family, everyone had to go to a catholic church on Sunday without questioning. My rebellion began when I declined to go to church, because I had plans to spend the weekend at my cousin’s place in New York. To substantiate my rebellion, I asked for legitimate reason for attending church with actual facts. “Everybody in this neighborhood goes to church, do not embarrass us?” that was my mother’s first answer. I was not satisfied so, I kept digging with the “why” until I was relieved from the attendance.
Feminism and racism is highly carried out in my society. The female gender is subjected to household occupation whereas the male go to work for big companies. My mother had to quit her job when she moved in with my father. (CO 3 and CO 6). I was never satisfied with the answer, since other families such as my cousin’s in New York, both parents were working. I verbally did the comparison of my parents with my aunt’s; and it was a battle full of tension; but always proved that the call was insignificant. Racism, especially on the immigrant is a huge subject. One of my closest friend introduced a Mexican girlfriend to his family; which resulted to huge retaliation by the family and the society. The family was totally against the relationship, whereas negative talk in the society were extreme. Contrary to the society, I found myself comforting their relationship since race was insignificance, to the love they had.
The s rebellion was induced by the leadership inequality in our community. To my understanding leadership is based on qualities. However in our society, only selected few individuals get the leadership posts (CO 1 and CO 2) For example, there is a public hospital, which over the years has only been under the leadership of one family. A trend of poor healthcare services, has been in existence yet no changes have ever been made concerning leadership. Technically, I have constantly shared my insights on social media against the inequality of leadership in our society; where this hospital is my most used example.
In summary, I could state my-self as an activist who aims at dealing with the existing inequality in my society. The existing inequalities challenged my cognitive thinking and possibly my future career. Taking the sociology class, will help me identify better ways of dealing with this prevailing issue for a better future. With the knowledge of sociology, and society culture, I look forward in ensuring that equality in my society will prevail at all cost. It will be my duty to enforce equality by dealing with the current culture that promotes inequality.
