Uses of Excel
The use of excel has become popular since it is a shortcut to getting calculations, analysis and visualization of statistical data in a fast and efficient manner. The inbuilt algorithms save the users the time to perform the calculations that an ordinary calculator may not perform. It the nature of excel that attracts people from all industries to adopt the system. The ability to store the data and pick up from where one left off makes excel reliable in schools, home and at work. The application has enabled businesses to project their growth and predict future outcomes. More and more people are beginning to realize the importance of this tool as it helps in organizing a more reliable system through processing of data and information in easy to understand rows and columns.
Excel can be used for personal uses while at home in areas of saving money, budgeting, tracking expenses, keeping up with maintenance or projects. First of all, housewives benefit the most from the ease of using excel. How money is spent by members of the family can be recorded on the excel sheet and may give projections on who is spending the most money. Expenses on commodities can be tracked as well so as to determine which are areas are consuming the most amount of finances. Fellow members of the home can learn on how to manage their spending habits once there is a record of good uses and misuses (Gyansetu, 2018). Therefore, it is easier to keep up with the project of running the household.
At work excel is useful in creating graphs or charts for presentations. These graphs and charts help management keep track of the progress of work projects as well as revenues. It is easier to interpret progress from statistical presentations rather than raw data. Whereas most people may not understand the complex statistical terms, it is easy to understand graphs and charts. Therefore, when it comes to board meetings, use of these pictorial presentations are much easier to use since all members can see the increase or decline in performance. These graphs and charts may also be used for predictions within a business and may be used to prepare a company for future plans.
In schools tracking classes, time management and application of excel in classrooms can make education systems function more effectively. Teachers can use excel to plan and track their classes. It is easy to formulate class timetables using excel sheets since time can be incorporated into a table. This will ensure there is no collision of classes and give teachers a smooth time getting around classes. Students may use excel to solve complex mathematical problems in class, making their learning easier (Sharma, 2019). The same excel can be used in school projects, especially where statistical data is required.
In conclusion, excel is used in a number of fields for the use it presents to handling calculations, analysis, manipulations and interpretations. From schools to work places to home, there always is the need for excel. The platform offers an easy way to manage data which could have been difficult managing on paper with a basic calculator. Keeping track of expenses, goals and time has never been easier than with Excel. It is very beneficial to involve excel in one’s life since the software provides wide features and functionalities for everyday works.
