Consider the challenges emotional labor poses for an employee in this job and how specific personality traits might influence the level of emotional labor required. Organizational and cultural standards for behavior are ubiquitous in the workplace, and it is important to understand them. Employees are expected to express or avoid from displaying specific emotions as a routine part of their job duties under these conditions. Nevertheless, human emotions can be affected by various circumstances both inside and outside the workplace, and emotions might need to be regulated in order to meet the needs of clients, customers, or coworkers during certain times of the day. It is referred to as “emotional labor” to indicate the emotional regulation that is required during workplace encounters. If a nurse is weary, furious, stressed, or overwhelmed while caring for a patient, she must maintain her professional demeanor and confidence.
