Pertussis Epidemic case study Week 8
Throughout this course, you are examining the tools available to
population health managers as they work to influence positive
health outcomes in populations. Descriptive epidemiology is one
tool that may be used to prevent the spread of disease and to
promote health.
Caron (2017) defines descriptive epidemiology as “the branch of
epidemiology that helps answer questions of what (health issue of
concern), who (person), where (place), when (time), and why/how
(causes, risk factors, modes of transmission)” (p. 58).
For this Assignment, you will examine a specific case study to
assess the management of a population health epidemic that
applies descriptive epidemiology.
