Healthcare IT governance is a very important part of a health service organization. There are
many governance models for an organization to use, all of which usually consist of standard, set
principles, processes and procedures standards, and infrastructure architecture and management
policies.
 Explain why healthcare IT governance is important and how an IT governance model is selected
or developed.
 Does the culture of the organization have an impact on the governance model created or

Healthcare IT governance is important in a number of ways. The healthcare IT governance is important in managing and overseeing all the activities that take place in a healthcare environment. The success of many health sectors mainly relies on the proper integration of the healthcare IT governance.
However, there is an increasing growth of a large amount of data in the health sector. Therefore healthcare governance plays an important role in big data analytics. Proper data management is the basis of all activities that take place in the health sector. On the other hand, timely reliable and accurate data concerning the patients can only be achieved through proper IT governance (Chambers, 2012).
The health care governance forms a basis of finding solutions to issues such a cybersecurity in the health sector.
The process of selecting or developing an IT model is achieved through aligning the IT and organisational leadership. The model chosen should be in line with the strategies that the organisation has already set. The formation of IT committees and involvement of the government are key factors to consider while selecting the model. However, the IT governance model should comply with the regulations and rules that guide the health sector.
Culture in an organisation has an impact on the model of governance that is created. The model created should be in line with the organisation culture and management. For instance, the model adopted should always be in line with the methods of communication and decision making used in the organisation. The culture of the organisation determines the type of model that is used in managing the health sector. Models should hold the customs and believes in the organisation (Jamal et al, 2010). Therefore it is important to consider culture while adopting the model used in managing information.
