foods? I love all food so I will select two of my favorites that
appetizing to me at this moment. Living in Idaho the weather is still

is shawarma. This tasty treat has a dozen different names, and it all
depends on what country you are in when you are placing an order for this
popular Arabic dish. Shawarma is extremely popular in the Eastern
Mediterranean region (ifood.tv, 2016). While stationed in Egypt and
Israel I ate a lot of shawarma and I really didn’t care where it came from or
what type of mystery meat was on the spit, all I knew was it was truly
amazing. It is said that shawarma gets its name and origin from the
Turks; shawarma means “turning”, which is what the meat does for hours at a
time (ifood.tv, 2016). The meat on the spit usually consists of either
lamb or sheep with their origins coming from Egypt. Chicken which
originated in Asia, and pigs which came from Hungary, and the ever famous beef
with origins traced back to Mesopotamia (Wikipedia “The free
Encyclopedia”, 2016). The various meats are hand packed with spices
and juices every day on a large metal spit and is grilled and rotated for at
least 4 hours on the spit. When you place an order what usually happens
is the vendor takes a piece of flat bread which originated in Egypt around 6000
BCE (ifood.tv, 2016). Next, the vendor places a hand full of pickled
vegetables and believe it or not French fries and lay them on the piece of
circular piece of flat bread. Next, they take an extremely large knife
and shave off layers meat from the rotating spit. The meat is placed over
the other fixings and is wrap tightly and is now ready to eat. This dish
is often referred to as the “middle eastern taco” (ifood.tv, 2016).
Shawarma is a must for everybody who enjoys all kinds of meats.”

time. The meat was spiced and it was pork, beef, poultry and fish. They

18th and the 19th centuries. Around the 19th and the 29th centuries,
modernization began and thus the Haute Cuisine became modernized. Georges
Auguste Escoffier was also a chef and he too put his own touches and happened
to make Careme recipes simplified. It is very interesting to find out the
history of foods. French cuisine is my favorite and love it even more now that
I know a little bit more about it.”
