Changes in the business environment have inclined modern business to adopt different approaches and measures as a result of pressures. The pressures forcing businesses to adopt new changes and strategies include social programs, ethics, government regulation, terrorism and social responsibilities. Businesses adopt new ways of implementing business strategies and conducting operations as a result of pressures from the business environment.
The social responsibility in business has adopted different purposes in that they have become points of competitions and advertisement. In this case, businesses have increased the budget allocation on the social responsibility to reach the people (Kumar and Narasipuram, 2006). The involvement on social responsibilities and social responsibilities are effective in the public relations and they have long term benefits that attack and keep the existing customers thus increasing profit and revenue levels.
Increased government regulations/deregulations have pressured the government to engage consultants and experts in audits. The business can only run effectively and efficiently when it aligns itself with the laws and business policy of the government (Kumar and Narasipuram, 2006). In this regard, the businesses have regularly used the services of consultants and auditors to evaluate their policies, strategies and approaches if they are in line with the laws and guidelines of the government.
The increase and proliferation of terrorist acts have inclined businesses to beef up security to protect their investments and customers (Smith and Fingar, 2003). Businesses have increased their budget allocation on security and technology to detect and eliminate terrorisms activities. For instances, the business invests in equipment that can detect bombs and other dangerous ammunitions.
Finally, ethics have become the core determinants of success in business. Business must uphold morals and ethics to build and uphold a good image in the business environments (Smith and Fingar, 2003). In this case, businesses have developed policies and standards of operations aimed at upholding ethics in the course of business operations.
In conclusion, the changes in business environment force the business to adopt the necessary changes to enhance effective operations of the business. Failure to adhere to appropriate changes creates barriers and challenges in the business to the point of loss-making and failure of businesses. Therefore, changes in the business environment must be responded accordingly for success and business continuity.
