Technological advancement has led to an increase in the development of new software and hardware used in the oil and gas industry to improve efficiency and minimise costs. Hadoop and InfoSphere streams are examples of software used in managing the oil and gas industry.
Hadoop software
The software is used to manage a large amount of data in the oil and gas industry. Due to the complexity of the data that is used in oil and gas, it is not easy to convert into a relational format. The Hadoop which is IBM software helps in conversion of these data. The software is an open source and contains important tools used in large data manipulations. The software is intergraded to collect, analyse and store a large volume of data from oil and gas industry. It simplifies big tasks that could have taken much time and cost to manage. However, there are limitations of the software.
Limitations
