Healthcare management information system (HIS) is simply a system used to manage data in health facilities. For instance, an effective decision support system should generate a list of medications effective for a patient with a particular condition depending on various demographics such as age, weight, and other comorbidities.
• Patient portals. The patient portal software allows patients to access their medical data from the internet. They can also access information concerning appointments, medications prescribed, laboratory, and different test results without necessarily visiting the health facility. Some patient portals may also facilitate online patient-doctor consultation.
