Notably, each area of nursing under home health nursing demonstrates the essence of focus for the nursing health professional in order to identify relevant topical areas for prompt action. Ideally, home health nursing focuses on delivery of effective services to the public through creation of structures through which objectives of professionalism are achieved (Lundy & Janes, 2009). This paper considers the role of home health nurses in shaping public health discourse in Cypress through different intervention initiatives which are beneficial to the general public.
Notably, home health nurses perform their duties in a way which sets them apart from other traditional nursing professionals in the sense that they visit patients at their places of dwelling to undertake nursing roles whenever required to do so. For instance, health promotion intervention mechanism which home health nurses in Harris County may adopt, include taking prompt initiatives as change agents in facilitating reforms in healthcare. Additionally, intervention mechanisms will also include active initiatives to assess different needs required by the target population in need of specialized care services (Friedman et al., 2014). Moreover, the use of partnerships with other agencies which take care of vulnerable members of the society in tackling health issues in Cypress will be paramount. In terms of partnership, home health nurses will seek to collaborate with institutions such as nursing homes which offer help to patients like mentally ill persons and elderly citizens in Cypress. Additionally, partnership with local public health officers from relevant department of the government will also enable home health nursing professionals to discharge their role in an effective manner. In the article by Friedman et al (2014), the authors evaluate effectiveness of special interventions adopted by home health nurses while highlighting that care-as-usual model is currently outdated (Friedman et al., 2014). Additionally, the article emphasizes the need for nursing professionals to develop more effective intervention measures such as partnerships, needs assessment and change initiation as captured under this analysis.
The American Nurses Association (ANA) is an umbrella body for classes of registered nurses which include LPN, APRNs and RN across the US. Specifically, ANA offers an avenue for professional nurses to interact and share ideas which may stimulate both professional and personal growth (American Nurses Association, n.d.). At the present moment, ANA is focused towards supporting education and further training for nursing professionals with the objective of enhancing access to healthcare and delivery of services which has hindered operations of home health nurses for a long time. This objective is attained through training home health nurses to obtain more specialized skills which impact health of patients through more effective service delivery. Additionally, through its training and education support under professional development initiative, ANA plays a major role in reducing costs of healthcare since vulnerable members of the society can be assured of high quality health services (American Nurses Association, n.d.). Therefore, ANA is a major contributor to issues of delivery, access and cost of healthcare within Cypress as it offers essential support to home health nurses as they seek to visits patients in diverse parts of Harris County.
In conclusion, home health nurses play an essential role in upholding community health in Cypress. Notably, this objective is attained through tackling public health problems which hinder healthcare delivery to vulnerable members of the society such as mentally ill patients in rehabilitation stations, elderly people in nursing homes and war veterans. Additionally, the process of service delivery to the three categories of people in Cypress who require care services offered by home health nurses requires urgent interventions. Consequently, home health nurses have adopted necessary intervention mechanisms which include need assessment, change initiation and collaborative arrangements to ensure realization of healthcare access and nursing services delivery in Cypress. Therefore, home health nurses play a vital role in uphold public health through offering visitation services to patients in Cypress thereby promoting community health.
