Women face many challenges due to their hormonal imbalance. The early years of life might be more comfortable, but many face more challenges during their menopause. Adding the correct foods to the diet as one edge closer to menopause could aid in reducing the symptoms that are associated with menopause. Taking the dietary changes at an earlier age might make it easier for one to adjust to menopause. Some of the symptoms can be bothersome, and they include flashes and dry skin. Others may lead to some long-term health problems such as high cholesterol and bone loss. Therefore, there is a need for one to follow an optimal menopause diet that can aid in reducing the symptoms and even protect one from illness such as cardiovascular problems and osteoporosis.

A day’s diet
For one to be able to avoid the symptom associated with menopause, they are supposed to take certain foods. For a day, one should take two to four saving of dairy products and calcium-rich diet. One can take dairy products, fish, broccoli, or legumes. The aim is to get 1200miligrams a day.
Take at least three serving of iron-rich foods per day. Iron might be found in eggs, poultry, red meat, vegetables or nuts. One should take about 8 milligrams of iron.
Take foods with high fiber that include cereals, pieces of bread, whole grain, fresh fruits, vegetables, and pasta. The recommended measure is 21 grams per day.
Take one cup of fruit and 2 cups of vegetables.
Take plenty of water.
Nutritional assessment tools
Nutritional assessment is based on the information from sources such as laboratory data, weight, height, medical history, physical appearance, and diet interview. Several tools can be used to do a nutritional assessment. However, in our case, we shall use the following tools, body mass index, diet analysis, portion sizes, and anthropometric measurements. The body mass index (BMI) assesses the weight for height and is preferable because it is the clinical measurement that is related to the fat content. The diet analysis looks at every food that one consumes and assesses the nutrient content. The focus is to analyze the number of calories that are consumed. The portion sizes determine the nutrient status. The Anthropometric Measurements takes into account the measurement of the height, length, body weight, circumferences and the thickness of the body.

The individual, in this case, is an African American coming from a middle-income family. With such a setting, there is the aspect of the culture that would determine their respectability to treatment. First, there is the aspect of culture, wherein the African American culture people do not believe in medical intervention for most of the health issues. More importantly, there is least concern with matters to do with menopause and therapeutic interventions. Most African Americans believe that this is a normal process in one’s life and there the feeling that they get at this level are just average. Research shows that African American women exhibit the same signs only as the white American, but they experience more bloating and dizziness (Menopause Management ). However on the aspects of economic the individual is from a middle-income home and they also have a stable job. However, the individual is the only one earning in the family and is often forced to support the family including the extended family.
How cultural and the economic issues affect the patient
First, the cultural items have a significant impact on the individual’s uptake of the nutritional advice. Fist this is an individual that has grown up and lived in an environment where people believe that it is normal to experience the menopause symptoms. Most people would go through this stage without seeking any medical intervention (Whitfield, 2017). From this background, it would be hard for this individual to be convinced that they need to change on some of the dietary options they take to avoid the symptoms. The economic conditions are also another factor that would determine the individuals focus on nutritional recommendations. Some of the foods that one should take might be costly and thus not the best option for an individual that has many mouths to feed. An individual would be forced to choose between making the right diet and paying for other bills (Whitfield, 2017). These two aspects would thus have a significant impact on the options that one can take in regards to diet.
