Conflicting View Point Essay
The topic of abortion raises conflicting viewpoints, among many. The majority of people understand pregnancy termination as a morality issue, regarding the commencement of the personhood of a human, woman integrity over their bodies, and fetal rights. The debate is a legal and political issue, where anti-abortion campaigners are seeking to enact, support and expand anti-abortion rules, while abortion-rights campaigners strive to ease or repel the regulations and expand access to pregnancy termination services. The paper addresses premises for supporting abortion, reasons for opposition, enculturation and its influence on biasness, and the final position on the topic.
A woman is entitled to safe abortions, and there are reasonable premises from procon.org website to support the position on abortion. Abortion reduces crime because the majority of the women who undergo the procedures are likely to give birth to children that may engage in crimes. For instance, some women become pregnant from rape and unsafe environments that expose children to such vices (Procon.org, 2019). The choice for this reason is, women in control of childbearing timing raise them in optimal surroundings. Second, abortion gives pregnant women a choice to terminate fetuses with severe abnormalities that assure death before or a short while after birth, like anencephaly, and limb-body wall complex (Catalano et al, 2018). Insistence on women to carry fetuses under fatal congenital disabilities is cruel as they only experience pain during delivery and after loss when the children die, which justifies abortion. The other reason is that there is the neglect of babies born of unwanted pregnancies, which is unfair, considering they need care for mental, physical, and emotional health. Delayed prenatal care, risk of physical violence during pregnancy, congenital disabilities, and less breastfeeding characterize unintended pregnancies, which shows the importance of abortions to protect the well-being of the babies. Abortion is appropriate to protect the mother and child’s well-being.
There are opposing aspects that question their premises to support abortion. The premise that abortion is appropriate to minimize crime in society is seemingly inappropriate because it also eliminates the possibility of individuals’ contribution to society. There is opposition to the abortion of children with health defects to prevent suffering argues that selective abortion based on abnormalities is overt discrimination because physical disabilities are far from making the babies less human. Further, the procon.org website (2019) also provides an opposing viewpoint of abortion for unwanted pregnancies to protect babies’ well-being by stating that women ought to take responsibility for their unprotected sexual intercourse and accept pregnancy as the consequence, use contraceptives or give them up for adoption.
Abortion biasness is present during evaluations for and against abortion. The position for abortion inspires the need to advocate for the right of choice regardless of media influence against the issue through tone, content creation and presentation, prominence of play, and choice of language. Some media personnel are against abortion regardless of the reasons, and they often quote opposers of pregnancy termination. For instance, in the procon.org website (2019) discussion, there are examples of famous individuals like Justin Beiber’s mother and her position in abortion, but similar comparisons for people supporting the act are absent. Such occurrences may make one biased toward supporting abortion and attempt to overshadow the media suppression. Additionally, personal biasness for abortion is present, bearing in mind that healthcare professionals mix their faith with medicine and hesitate to provide pregnancy termination services as a form of reproductive health, and it creates personal influence regarding abortion. There severe effects of such, including increased risk of child abuse and depression for both mothers and children, cause the need to support abortion and women’s choice regardless of the care provider’s beliefs. Both media and healthcare provider biasness have influences personal ideas to increase the urge to opposing their viewpoints and support abortion, which is also a form of bias.
Enculturation affects the bias ideas regarding abortion. The gradual acquisition of freedom of speech and expression through the media influenced the bias on pregnancy termination via journalism because there ought to be a regular broadcast of both opposers and supports of abortion despite the journalists’ personal opinions. Additionally, enculturation through the gradually changing views of religion on abortion impacted the support of abortion and the dismissal of health care providers who deny women this form of reproductive care services. According Arousel to et al (2019), religious denominations are gradually accepting the need and legal support for abortion based on moral justification, which eliminates the acceptance of care providers to mix their faith with medical practice. Thus, enculturation has an impact on bias.
The position on the importance of abortion still stands even after playing the believing game. The decision to carry a pregnancy to full-term is personal and private, and there should be an elimination of unnecessary interference with the individual’s decisions. The rights of women are protected under the Fourteenth Amendment in the US constitution, insisting on the right to privacy as a form of liberty for women to choose abortions or carry the pregnancy (McReynolds-Pérez, 2017). Women are entitled to safe abortions about the well-being of their babies and them as mothers.
There are reasons for supporting abortion, premises for opposition, enculturation and its impact on biasness, and the final opinion on the topic. Women should access abortion yo reduce crime rates in the society, protect them and their babies from pain due to births in the presence of fatal health conditions like anencephaly and limb-body wall complex, and to prevent giving birth to unwanted babies. The opposing viewpoints argue that abortions prevent exploration of children’s social potential, people with complex health conditions also have the right to life, and women should take responsibility for their essay writing help actions. Enculturation cause biasness concerning the activities of journalists and healthcare providers who limit abortion awareness and procedures. Abortion is a personal choice that all women have the right to decide for or against the termination.
