Latina/o immigrants
The Questions:
1. A growing number of Latina/o immigrants are settling in the Midwest
in both
urban and rural locations. Give your suggestions for ways that
communities can
adopt policies and programs that would assist them. Be sure to address
these with
an understanding of their needs, concerns, and gifts. Address at least 3
of the
following: the arts community, education, healthcare, business, social
services,
churches, government, police, and military. Be sure to include course

observations.
2. The growing population of Latina/os and the increasing age of non-
Hispanic
whites means our country is going through dramatic demographic changes
that
could affect you as well as business, education, military, politics, etc.
Address
how these changes might impact the social and political future of the
United
States. Also address how these changes currently affect you and might
impact you
in the future. Be sure to include course materials and your reflections
based on
self-disclosure, experiences, and observations.
3. Argue for or against the following statement. Immigrant poetry,
testimonio, music,
and film help others understand the larger issues of the global economy
and their
effects at the local and individual level. Be sure to include course
materials and
your reflections based on self-disclosure, experiences, and observations.
Optional
