Suicide Rise and The Contributing Factors

Rise of Suicide and Contributing Factors
Globally, several cases of suicide have been reported that continue to rise on a daily occasion. In simple terms, suicide is described as the thought and act of taking an individual life without any other person participating in the killing. Besides, no health condition can be said to have caused suicide since an individual thinks of doing it at an individual level. Also, there are pros and cons related to suicide. For instance, in the same ways people have the right to life; therefore, they have the right to death. Besides, they have responsibilities on those they leave after their death. At times they might be challenging economic responsibilities.
On the other hand, every individual has the right to terminate the suffering they undergo and at some point, they are at liberty to end the pressure that feels like notwithstanding. Such sentiments are considered as pros. The cons associated with suicide include loss of life at an unexpected time hence, leaving your family friends, and relatives with fear. Sometimes it might lead to mental suffering for the young ones. Based on the annual reports by the health organizations, suicidal cases continue to rise without any decrease being witnessed. According to the findings of the researchers, several factors lead to suicidal cases in the entire world. The most affected are youths whose age ranges between 15 to 40 years of age. Within the age limit, a lot of factors contribute to the increasing number of cases. As a result, most youths continue to lose their life leading to a reduced youth population globally.
The risk factors that lead to the increased suicidal cases include but are not limited to loss such as work, relational alongside financial losses. Possibilities of barriers that limit individual access to mental health and physical illness are other risks of suicide. Also, the beliefs of culture and religious customs that do not condemn suicide together with unwillingness of seeking assistance due to the perceived stigma increase the chances of committing suicide. Besides, drug abuse and aggressive behaviors among others contribute to suicidal cases. In case stiffer measures are not in place it might become a challenge to end suicide cases among the societies.
Literature review
Suicide is considered by most people to be intentional. According to Stone et al. (2018), suicide can be termed as intentional death caused by an individual. Reasons can be upon the person who feels that life is no longer favorable. Several people believe taking away your life is a solution to all the problems that exist. They forget that after death, people left behind also suffer mental problems.
Children of below five years rarely take their life not unless it was a play or a joke between them then one gets hurt leading to loss of life. Aboumrad et al. (2018), posit that suicide cases have been on records for several decades now. Historically, it is an issue that has affected the nation for a long time now. Besides, no single year had recorded cases less than the previous year’s record. Annually, cases continue to rise without any significant decrease. It implies that intentional deaths happen every year. In the United States, suicide is known to be among the leading causes of death.
The incidence and prevalence of the attempted suicides are approximately ten times higher than the successful ones. Back in 1997, the rate of suicide was recorded to be 11.4 percent of 100,000. By the year 2000, the figure recorded was 10.7 of 100,000 people in the United States of America. In the U.S close to 30,000 deaths are recorded every year. From 1994 to 2004 several cases of suicide of age 14 and above have been extremely high in the entire United States. England, United Kingdom, and Ireland have been at the forefront recording more cases. The same huge number lacks in the African countries however, many cases are also recorded in Africa. According to the statistics, the age of 14 to 35 record more cases than other age groups. Children below 4 years rarely record more cases.
Cases of suicide depend on various risk factors that make it. Gender is considered a contributing factor to suicide. Burke et al. (2018), assert that several males commit suicide than females. On the other hand, most females attempt suicide compared to males. Within the family, men are subjected to a heavy-duty of providing for the entire family. As a result, when the level of income gets low and the demand increases, men fail to withstand the pressure hence, take their life. The difference between men and women is that most women attempt then fail to succeed whereas men attempt and succeed. Another risk factor is the age where the rate of suicide increases with increase in age. According to Mann & Metts (2017), men record the highest number at the age of 35 to 45 whereas in women it is at age 55. A significant increase in the age of 15 to 35 is experienced. Marital status and race also contribute to the risk of suicide. The individual who is yet to marry and those in marriages, commit lots of suicide than the singles.
Also, the beliefs of culture and religious customs that do not condemn suicide together with unwillingness of seeking assistance due to the perceived stigma increase the chances of committing suicide. Some traditional beliefs do not condemn the issue of suicide. Instead, they treat the act like a normal death case. Other religious beliefs also consider suicide as a safe death hence, no condemnation towards the issue. Also, being unable to withstand the pressure that an individual has, lead to intentional death (Aboumrad et al. 2018). Much pressure comes as a result of numerous responsibilities upon an individual.
In conclusion, suicide is described as the thought and act of taking an individual life without any other person participating in the killing. Besides, no health condition can be said to have caused suicide since an individual thinks of doing it at an individual level. Also, there are pros and cons related to suicide. For instance, in the same ways people have the right to life, therefore, they have the right to death. Besides, they have responsibilities on those they leave after their death.
Therefore, it can be better concluded that suicide is a worrying trend in the entire world.
