The idea here is to see how common visualizations are in the world. Bring us one of them. It should be something you find interesting and would have encountered in your life. You shouldn’t have to look hard to find one. But, you might want to look a little bit for an interesting one.

When you turn in your visualization remember to: Include a screenshot image of the visualization or the web page. Please answer the following questions (a sentence for each is all it takes):

The visualization above is a Conversation Prism that provides a visual map of the social media networks and how they continue to reshape everything. The visualization covers a network of different social media components and the companies involved in each component. The components highlighted in the visualization have a significant impact on today’s way of communication, learning, and sharing.
The visualization shows the interrelationship between social media components, the community, persona, and brand in influencing the communication in terms of listing, learning, engaging, and co-creating. “You” is at the center of the Conversation Prism, which connects to all social media components and trends.
The visualization is interesting, based on various reasons. First, its design enables one to create a connection to the main concept of the visualization, which is to demonstrate how individuals are in the center of a social media world. The other factor that makes the visualization interesting is how each trend and component in the chart is provided with companies that offer the services related to the component or trend.
The variables presented in the visualization are the companies associated with social media components and trends. The companies, which are more than 140 mostly, appear in categories of messaging, crowdfunding, hospitality, travel, and connecting URL. The message the visualization intends to convey is to remind viewers that social media is about one’s online experience. The visualization also intends to show that a person in the center can shape other individuals’ online experiences and their own. The visualization purposes of enhancing one understand and appreciate their statusphere so that they could engage in a productive role in defining conversations shaping the future.
