The Value of Content Management Systems
In this era where people need things done fast and efficiently, most people are relying on Content Management Systems to ease their way into the world of websites. This involves the selection of pre-designed and custom-made templates that the designer has to choose from. Whatever the need may be, from business to simple blogs, there are plugins that help actualize the website needs. CMS offer their websites an easy way of integrating with external resources as well. From a wide range to choose from, including WordPress, Joomla! And Drupal, web designers can easily manipulate their sites to fit their liking.
Content Management Systems are growing popular by the day as many businesses opt for them as a web design choice. Top of the list as to the reasons why they are preferred is their cheaper overall cost. Unlike hiring a web designer to make the website, users are able to choose the payment plan that fits them and in return get better results. The interfaces offered are also simpler to use which is another reason. People are finding that customizing a CMS is much easier and takes a shorter time once the user understands how work around the function (Davis, 2017). CMS eliminates development issues that may come up thus making development time faster.
There are a number of business applications for any CMS –based portfolio. It mainly depends on the needs of the business. WordPress for example gives good security which can be used to control permission and access. Users can manage and structure data and get statistical results. And most important of all, businesses are able to connect to outside platforms giving them a way to the outside world (Davis, 2017). There are also analytic plugins that can help a business see exactly how people find and use the website. Contact forms are also available so that users can get in touch with the host.
It is important to implement social media features within the website so that the users are able to share content on their social media networks. One can use plugins to implement social media features. An example is using the BuddyPress plugin for WordPress sites. Another way is through the use of Social Media Button widgets which redirect users to their desired platforms. There are also ways that bloggers can embed tweets, Instagram photos, and YouTube videos to the sites.
Plugins are often confused to extension, but they are different. For plugins, they are basically a code that adds features to a site. When making a portfolio in WordPress, one can use Contact Form 7 as a plug-in that manages several contact forms. They can also use bbPress to include a forum within the site. Extensions, however, modify core functionality of the website. Thanks to the already existent codes, users can choose templates that they feel will serve them best on the website (Davis, 2017). They can also use themes to help make the site more attractive according to their own liking. There are also options to integrate the sites content to other platform.
In conclusion, CMS continue to draw in more users due to their advantageous benefits. They are not only cost effective but also accessible from whichever point of the world as long as the owner has internet. Due to their convenience, they are becoming more reliable and will most likely dominate the web design service provider industry in the near future.
