Admission Essay
Growing up as a child shaped my vision for life. I was always in hospital to seek treatment for bone fracture. I realized the ability of the nurses to provide treatment procedures that could relieve pain and enhance recovery (Mayo, Harris & Buron, 2016). I desired that when I grow up I will join the nursing fraternity. My approach to life is to help other people in pain.
I acquired a BSN in 2016 but my background in nursing dates back in 1991. I have applied my skills in hospice and home care services. I have a passion to help other people and thus I foresee myself working as a nurse in home care setting. My strengths also include the ability to train others and receive training. I have experience in would care, nursing systems, and intravenous. The strengths would help me relate better with nursing procedures in home care settings (Unroe, Stump, Effler, Tu & Callahan, 2018). I plan to compensate for my weakness by collaborating with others who have better skills compared to mine.
I am planning to attend graduate school to enhance my skills in nursing. My focus is to help patients using advanced skills. My role as a Nursing Practitioner will be to diagnose and manage chronic diseases. Long-term career goals involve working in home care settings and hospice. My academic interest in Gerontology involves the study of old age, the problems and patterns of ageing (Mayo, Harris & Buron, 2016). I would like to research how to reduce aging health complications. My interest is in line with the vision of the faculty of providing solutions to old age health complications. I would like the head of hospice operation studies in the institution to be my mentor.
