An essay is a piece of writing that expresses the author’s point of view or develops and defends a thesis. There are different types of essays; compare and contrast essay, descriptive, narrative and argumentative essays. An essay is a nonfiction type of writing that uses facts to validate a thesis statement. It is either sourced from the author’s observation, literature or a reflection of an already existing issue. Choose a title and state a thesis statement
The initial step before you embark on writing an essay is choosing a topic or a title to write on. Choose an appealing topic. In cases where a topic has already been given analyze and interpret it to get a deeper understanding of what it is all about. State a thesis statement. A thesis is a central idea that you believe in and will defend in the entire essay. For example, deforestation leads to climate change.
Research and create an outline
After identifying the topic. Do thorough research on the topic. Note down any essential information that is relevant to the topic. Gather information that will support your thesis statement. Then create an outline of how you want the essay to look like. The outline should begin with a title, followed by introduction, body, and conclusion.
