Objective:
The objective of this assignment is to explore the concept of stress in the workplace.
Stress:
Although we often associate stress with a negative context, we should recognize that there are both positive and negative implications. After all, elements of stress can add vibrancy to the mundane. Having said this, I think that we can all agree the pandemic has created a context of unparalleled stress in our lifetimes. With this I would like to focus the first assignment on understanding stress.
Assignment:
After reading chapter 3, please focus on the Stress at Work section in the textbook (pages 116 to 123) and reflect on what you find stressful in your workplace. What are some challenge stressors and hindrance stressors specific to your workplace? At a personal level, do you find that you are experiencing stress differently than colleagues? How is your own perception, job experience, social support, and personality impacting your unique response to stress? After identifying the multiple stressors in your workplace (and perhaps your personal life) please reflect on what are your coping strategies to develop greater resilience.
For many of us, we are returning to a workplace after 24 months of working remotely. This is a unique stress that we have never experienced before. What are you doing personally to navigate this context? What is your employer or university doing to support this return? What are some challenges and problems at your workplace that cause you stress? Do you find that, on a personal level, you deal with stress differently than your coworkers? How do your own thoughts, job experience, social support, and personality affect how you handle stress? After you’ve listed all the things that stress you out at work (and maybe at home, too), please think about how you deal with stress to become more resilient.
After 24 months of working from home, many of us are going back to an office. This kind of stress is different from anything we’ve ever felt before.
A strong submission will demonstrate a clear linkage between the textbook concepts and your personal story.
Please note that all submissions must include at least three direct linkages to the textbook using proper Help write my thesis – APA citation format. I would recommend you highlight specific vocabulary/terms from the textbook in bold italics. In addition, please include a bibliography that lists your textbook. This approach will help you develop the skills for academic writing.
