One of my favorite hobbies is playing basketball. Basketball is a game that requires energy to play together with various physics principles. The ball involves passing the ball to a teammate, dribbling the ball, and shooting. These processes depend on physics and laws of motion. Physics principles are applied from how the ball is made to how the game is played until the end.
The principle of pressure is applied through the air that is pressurized inside the ball. When the ball is pushed into the ground, it hits the ground and then bounces back up due to air compression inside the ball. The other principle involved in basketball is the law of speed and motion. The ball’s dropping and dribbling depend on speed and acceleration, which keeps the ball in motion. The more the ball is pushed to the ground, the more momentum and speed it gains. The principle of gravity also applies. Gravity ensures that when an object comes up, it eventually goes down due to obeying the law of gravity. Therefore, when the ball comes up due to pressure, force pushes it down as gravity pulls it towards the ground. Another principle is the energy principle (Okazaki, Rodacki & Satern, 2015). Work requires energy. The energy spent in playing basketball determines the motion and shooting of the ball. The more the energy used, the greater the shoot is, and the less the energy, the weaker the shoot is and the chances of scoring.
Playing basketball requires the various physics principles of pressure, gravity, force, energy work, motion, and friction. Each of these principles plays a role in dribbling, shooting, and the overall outcome of the game.
