The Institute of Medicine (IOM) created six aims to improve the quality of care in healthcare organizations.

Research the six aims and propose how you will assist your healthcare organization to achieve one of the aims.

Provide strong justification for your choice and proposal.

Institute of Medicine (IOM) developed a framework of six aims including safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable healthcare. Safe means the provision of healthcare services, effective means that services should be based on scientific knowledge and towards people who will benefit (Spath & Kelly, 2017). Patient-centered means services should be respected despite their views. Timely means there should be no delays whereas efficient means resources should not be wasted. Equitable service means quality care without considering the beauty or gender of a person. The aims can be achieved through various strategies. One of the strategies I propose is to first ensure the team of health practitioners is aware of the aims. Additionally, it is crucial to link the aims to patient outcomes (Dhruva, Atreya & Chao, 2018). For example, timely provision of care to pregnant mothers who are delivering can help them to avoid the caesarian section if they are handled on time and effectively. Therefore, doctors will avoid complications if they handle situations on time.
I propose that the information should also be shared with patients. When patients are aware of their rights or the quality of service they should receive, they will demand it. Patients will also work closely with health practitioners to provide the necessary care. It is also important to provide a conducive environment that motivates the practitioners to offer quality care to patients (Groves, 2016). Therefore, in summary, I believe the best strategy of achieving the six aims is to ensure both parties are aware of what they should provide or receive. It is also important to create a conducive environment for the achievement of the goal. The aims can help health organizations to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
